It sounds like your boss needs some convincing that being low profile isn't part of your official job description (as least I hope it isn't). I think tech writers with Type-A personalities could also be the people who have a drive to show the importance of their work, which as you say, is something we all need to do. I think a fair number of technical communicators are extroverts because talking with people and getting information is a big part of what we do, and that can lend itself to finding opportunities to bolster status.

Professionally, I feel that tech writers need to take pride in their work and to bolster their status at every opportunity. For whatever reason, the drive that makes people act like that isn't usually found in tech writers. We all know about the hot shot programmer or the overly ambitious product manager, but the type-A personality stereotype for tech writers is the person who obnoxiously corrects everyone's grammar.

(my boss likes to remind me that he wants to keep our group as low profile and out of trouble as possible - so what can I do?)

It's there now. Usually people don't go back and read a blog's entire archives, so I didn't think about it. Enjoy!

hello,

I want to read your entire blog chronologically but I am afraid I find no Aarchives" link on this page.

The only option for me is to use "Previous Entries" link at the end of each page, which is a cumbersome process in itself.

Could you please enable the archiving or is there a reason why you chose not to have it?
