Tom Johnson and I gave a presentation on creating quick reference guides at our STC chapter meeting last night. During the presentation, we showed some samples, including some that we’d done, with the text swapped out for Latin and dummy text. My wife was there and got to see examples of things that I work on.
While reviewing a guide that I had done, Tom pointed out how he liked that the images were uniform in width and lined up exactly with each other and the numbered steps in the guide’s columns.
My wife told me that because she knows me better, she thought at that point, “That’s just Ben being anal.” So I’m compulsively neat about my quick reference guide layouts. I’m sure that’s what she loves about me.
